Chinas Yangzijiang Shipbuilding wins orders for 59 vessels worth US$1.6b

CHINA's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holdings Ltd received orders for 59 vessels with a combined value of US$1.6 billion, year-to-date, exceeding its earlier $1.5 billion forecast and double the amount recorded in 2016.

The shipbuilder's order book stood at $4.3 billion as of September 30, and the company now expects to receive new orders worth $2 billion in 2018, reported Reuters.

The company's third quarter net profit increased to CNY866 million ($130.5 million), boosted by non-operating gains, up from CNY281.2 million ($42.4 million) a year ago.

Yangzijiang is considering the acquisition of assets and technologies to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vessels, according to executive chairman Ren Yuanlin.
